| USA win Friday keeps them in the hunt for Louis Vuitton Nice trophy
The USA boat sailed by BMW Oracle Racing won the first of two matches in the Louis Vuitton Nice regatta on Friday, November 13, against the Swedish team in Artemis. USA was on the way to a win over the Russian sailing team in Synergy when the wind died. The time limit expired, so the race was abandoned and will be sailed on Saturday. USA now is in fifth place in Round Robin 1 with an even 3 and 3 record. A win tomorrow will move it into fourth place and into Round Robin 2 with a good chance to compete in the drop dead finals. A loss would put them in a tiebreaker that could drop them to sixth place. The BMC Oracle Racing team split close tacks with Artemis through the second lap of the course, then got a nice wind shift to put them ahead through the finish. It was a welcome change from previous races where wind shifts put USA behind. Emirates Team New Zealand and Italy Azzurra lead Round Robin 1 with 6 wins each. The Kiwi are in first place because they beat Azzurra in an earlier match, The standings are important because the second half of the regatta has been changed,[url=http://www.sport.fr/economie/airmax.html]air max pas cher[/url]. Due to time constraints a half round robin will be conducted with the top four teams racing the bottom four teams. Each team has four matches scheduled before the semifinals and knockout rounds begin next Thursday. |
